To this union were born: Harry, who married Annie Moos and lives on a farm West of Jud; and Deloris (Mrs. Albert Netzer), who also lives on a farm West of Jud. Mr. and Mrs. Kalmbach lived happily on their farm until his death on May 30, 1950. She continued living there alone for one year, then moved to Jud for a year, after which she settled in Gackle, North Dakota, where she still resides. JOHN KELTGEN Mr. and Mrs. John B. Keltgen were born in Bird Island, Minn. He in 1884 and she in 1885. In 1911 Mr. Keltgen bought what is now the Gus Merkel farm. In 1912 moved to Jud in an immigrant car from Minn. They lived in Jud while they built their granary in which they lived the first year, with the exception of the winter months which they spent in Minnesota. The following year they built their house, in which they lived for eighteen years. Their ten children were born here, namely, Marcella, Marien, Victor, Rita, Zita, Katherine, Carrol William, Doris Mae, John Jr., and Jeanette. In 1929 the family moved to Jamestown N. Dak. where they were in business until 1944, at which time they located in Fargo, N. Dak. where they now reside. CONRAD HENRY KIRMIS Conrad Henry Kirmis, the son of Julius and Katherine Kirmis, was born on April 22, 1884 at Wellesley, Canada. He was the fourth oldest of twelve children. The family moved to the United States and located at Potsdam, Minnesota (near Rochester). Mr. Kirmis and his brother William arrived in this community April 22, 1905. They took and emigrant car from Minnesota to Edgeley; then with a team of horses on a wagon they followed the railroad grade to the present site of Jud, They bought farms two miles east of Jud on Section 3- 135-65. Conrad Kirmis farmed for several years then moved to Jud, where he worked for the North Star Lumber Co. Later the Thompson Lumber Co. purchased the North Star Lumber yards. He continued his work, then working for the Thompson Lumber Co. In 1938 he bought the Thompson Lumber yard, which is now the only lumber yard in Jud. He still owns and operates it. On June 28, 1921 Conrad Kirmis and Laura M. Brand of LaMoure, North Dakota were married. They met while she was teaching in the Jud Public School. They have one son. Conrad B., who was born on February 14, 1935. He is attending Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota. Mr. Kirmis served as village clerk for thirty five years. He served on the school board and was president of the school board for several years. Mr. Kirmis attends the Lutheran Church; Mrs. Kirmis attends the Methodist Church.
