Description
Summary:NGU has carried out exploration for uranium on a small butvarying scale since the second World War. An attempt is made toclassify types of uranium mineralization occuring in Norway, followinga system based on genetic types. Allthough difficulties are encounteredin applying the classification, it has proved possible to categorizemany of the occurences in this way. Information on some occurences islimited, and future revisions must be expected. The uraniummineralizations described are from all parts of the country, and rangefrom Proterozoic to Lower Paleozoic in age. The most prominent andpromising occurences are largely of sedimentary, intrusive, metamorphicand supergene origin, the most promising of which are found in theregion of northern Nordland. As yet no uranium deposits of importancehave been forund, based on prevailing metal prices, bur insufficientwork has been done on a number of known occurences and the potentialfor the existence of economic deposits in Norway has been assessed asgood. 35503
