Description
Summary:Description are given of the various lithologies occurring within the map area. These mainly comprise Cambro - Silurian supracrustals and intrusive, as well as granitic basement rocks of supposed Precambrian age. The intrusive rocks are principally those of the Bindal (granitoid) and Mosjøen (gabbro) massifs. These bodies are younger than the supracrustals, but their mutual age relationship is uncertain. The Alsten granite, however, is thought to be older than the other massifs. Minerale assemblages present in the metasedimentary rocks denote that these lithologies have been metamorphosed in the almandine-amphibolite facies. Evidence of at least three Caledonian fold episodes is present in the area. 35688
