Summary:This map consist of three numbered views and two additional unnumbered views as insets of Kerguelen's Land [i.e. Kerguelen Island] in the southern Indian Ocean. James Cook visited here on his third Pacific voyage in December 1776. The map features a number of views focussing on a distinctive navigational marker named here Arched Point, an arch made in stone on the shoreline. Note that the bottom two views feature a very faint mountainous background, barely discernible.
