Summary: | Map of Oonalaska [i.e. Unalaska Island] situated in the Fox Islands whch are part of the Aleutian Islands off the west coast of Alaska. Following his discovery of Cook's River on his way to the Bering Strait, James Cook turned southward and in October 1778 he reached the Aleutian Islands and anchored in the harbor of Samganooda on Unalaska Island to replenish provisions and repair the ships.
