Management of a respiratory emergency in the Antarctic winter: A case of foreign body aspiration

We report on a case of left main bronchus occlusion by an inhaled foreign body at a remote Antarctic scientific base during the austral winter. We present the dilemmas of on-site treatment and the challenges of aeromedical evacuation from such a remote environment.
