Description
Summary:This report details the efforts of numerous scientists in helping both the Ocean Carbon Uptake and Southern Ocean Working Groups make progress towards their goals to develop metrics for evaluating biases in CMIP- 5 model simulations; estimating sources of uncertainties in model projections of heat and carbon uptake; and informing future observations, model development, and analysis strategies for addressing biases and uncertainties (including protocols of CMIP-6). The U.S. CLIVAR Project Office produced this report with support from NASA, NOAA, NSF, and DOE.
