Summary:The U.S. Board of Geographic Names recently announced that a mountain range in Antarctica has been named for Captain William Stanley Lanterman, U.S. Navy (retired). Lanterman is a member of the staff of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). Captain Lanterman spent three seasons in the Antarctic as Staff Meteorologist for the Naval Support Forces station there as part of the antarctic research program sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
