Description
Summary:A dozen populations of Carex aquatilis in different vegetation types in the southernmost part of its area in the Netherlands have been carefully examined on the occurrence of ripe fruits. Contrary to the observations of Grootjans (1985) seed setting has been observed in all populations, although admittedly in a very low percentage; averagely one ripe seed per stem, with a maximum of five. Further observations are desirable for ecological considerations.
