| Summary: | The artide reviews interdependencies of unemployment and crime aš reflected in statistical data and a 1997 sun’ey in Minsk. Also, conditions of laboitr and editcation in the penitentiary institutions ofthe Republic are evaluated. Thefindings relate to co-relations ofthe offitially recorded and actual unemployment rates, trends in the crime rate growth among the unemployed people and those not attending schools, types of criminal acts committed by the unemployed, the role of the unemployed in the impact of the penitentiary system on the unemployment. Pranešime, remiantis statistikos duomenimis ir 1997 m. Minske surengta apklausa, aptariamas nedarbo ir nusikalstamumo ryšys. Be to, nagrinėjamos darbo ir švietimo sąlygos Baltarusijos pataisos įstaigose. Pateikiamos išvados apie ryšį tarp oficialiai užregistruotų nusikaltimų, nedarbo didėjimo, nusikaltimų, kuriuos padam bedarbiai ir niekur nesimokantys asmenys, skaičiaus augimo. Nurodomos nusikaltimų rūšys, būdingos bedarbiams, apibūdinamas pataisos įstaigų vaidmuo mažinant nedarbą.
