Description
Summary:A significant factor in the incidence of tooth decay in the United States is the consumption of sugar-containing soft drinks. Another component of the decay process is thought to be the carbonic acid contained in these drinks. This study compares the effects of carbonic acid on various structures including caves and teeth. Caves are formed as a result of continual exposure to acids. A person who consumes soft drinks throughout the day is exposing their teeth to the same substances. Dramatic before and after photos will exemplify the deleterious effects of these substances on an individual’s teeth. Additionally, data will be provided that illustrate the progression of dental decay among children and young adults in the United States.
