Description
Summary:The project concerns the Minnesota State University Mankato Automotive Engineering Technology Program's entry into the 2008 SAE Clean Snowmobile Challenge. Included in this presentation will be the snowmobile model used, engine choice and modifications done, modification results affecting emission control, noise reduction, production cost, fuel efficiency, and rider comfort. The MSU Clean Snowmobile Team focused their efforts on an Arctic Cat F5 chassis with a 499cc Sabercat two-stroke engine. The engine was modified and tested for emissions, noise, and performance, and the results analyzed and compared to an unmodified OEM snowmobile.
