Description
Summary:A model for groundwater silicification within the Fontainebleau Sands in sub contemporary landscapes was first proposed 35 years ago and has now been substantially updated with reference to silica precipitation during periglacial climate conditions. Herein we focus on observations that point to a deep permafrost which controlled the hydrology of paleolandscapes in the Paris Basin during Quaternary glaciations. A model for groundwater silicification within the Fontainebleau Sands in sub contemporary landscapes was first proposed 35 years ago and has now been substantially updated with reference to silica precipitation during periglacial climate conditions. Herein we focus on observations that point to a deep permafrost which controlled the hydrology of paleolandscapes in the Paris Basin during Quaternary glaciations.
