Summary:The present paper limits itself to the analysis of fundamental elements of which it consists of, even in an implicit way, the current world geopolitics of Antarctica, as a science and economic and political interests. At a certain moment, we must analyze of global Antarctic geopolitics and its repercussions on Brazilian Antarctic geopolitics. Since its institution, in 1982, the Brazilian Antarctic Program (PROANTAR) is coordinated by the Interministerial Commission for Ocean Resources (CIRM), a department in connection with the Brazilian Navy. The presence in Antarctica, in the point of view of the military, can be described as a territorial objective, a question of national security. The present work content integrates more ample research, currently being developed at the doctorate level, to propose a discussion between scientific and geopolitical objectives of the Brazilian Antarctic Program. O presente trabalho tem por objetivo a análise de fundamentais elementos (como a ciência e interesses político-econômicos) que estruturam, ainda que de forma implícita, a atual geopolítica antártica mundial, bem como a sua repercussão na geopolítica antártica brasileira. Desde a sua instituição, em 1982, o Programa Antártico Brasileiro (PROANTAR) está a cargo da Comissão Interministerial para os Recursos do Mar (CIRM), órgão vinculado ao Ministério da Marinha. A presença na Antártida, do ponto de vista militar, se resume em um objetivo territorial, uma questão de segurança nacional. O presente trabalho, cujo conteúdo integra uma pesquisa mais ampla, atualmente sendo desenvolvida em nível de doutorado, propõe uma discussão entre os objetivos científicos e geopolíticos do Programa Antártico Brasileiro.
