Summary: | Thesis (M.Ed.)--Memorial University of Newfoundland, 1977. Education Bibliography: leaves 18-19. This internship project reports on the need for a program of media skills at the high school level. With the need established the project proceeds to give a general course outline to guide resource teachers in teaching media skills to high school students. -- The aim of the course is to provide grade nine, ten and eleven students with the skills necessary to interpret and use the various media forms effectively and efficiently. -- A section of the project provides an overview of this course and includes an introduction, a review of related literature, the need for the course and related references. -- The course appears as an appendix, and consists of a table of contents, a definition of terms, an introduction for the teacher, a unit and grade level chart, goals of the course, unit summaries and an outline of topics under each unit. Most topics are listed with references and all topics have objectives and sample activities. A major list of references is presented at the end of the course. The format for the course was chosen for flexibility and clarity and, as implied above, is designed to serve-more as a guide than a detailed course outline. The scope of this guide is limited and a number of recommendations and conclusions are set down.
