Description
Summary:Thesis (M.Sc.)--Memorial University of Newfoundland, 1990. Physics Bibliography: leaves 105-108. The differential cross sections for the elastic and inelastic scattering of electron and positron from hydrogen in the metastable 2s state (2s-2s, 2s-2p, 2s-3s, and 2s-3p) are calculated by using the Glauber and Wallace approximations, at several intermediate energies (from 50 eV to 400 eV). For the correction term of the Wallace amplitude the three-dimensional integral expression is adopted in the calculation. We also make some comparison between electron and positron scattering processes from the metastable 2s state of hydrogen and processes from the ground state (1s-1s, 1s-2s, 1s-2p, 1s-3s, and 1s-3p), revealing some significant difference in their relative behaviors.
