Description
Summary:A rhythmic song (possibly originate as a spiritual) describing the Biblical episodes surrounding the Deluge - the building of the ark, the gathering of the animals, the flood, the dove finding dry land. Here characterized as a "camp-fire" song from an Anglican girls' camp. Indexer knew this song by 1950-52, but cannot remember from what source she learned it. A clap was inserted in a verbal rest at the end of line (v) and the verse here given as (6), ie, "Rise and shine and give God his glory," was sung chorus-wise at the end of each verse. Posen [MUN thesis], 41, 210.
