Gold Watch and Chain
Sally dresses in men's clothing and, as a highwayman, robs her lover. She particularly asks for his diamond ring - he says his lover gave it to him and he will die before he parts with it. Next day she admits robbing him and returns his gold - it was to test his love. see Peacock, 342.
