Description
Summary:A humourous and "disgusting" song, somewhat derogatory of the "Pennsylvania Dutch" (German) community. Describes how a man makes sausages out of rats and neighbourhood pets. He eventually falls into his sausage machine while attempting to repair it and accidentally is "sausage-ized" in his own turn. Sung as "camp-fire" song at Anglican girls' camp. Indexer learned this song (as "Johhny Rebec") from parents in California in late 1940's, and sang it with great gusto for decades thereafter. She had also seen it in print in a paperback anthology of folks songs (ca. 1960), "Folksongs for Fun", ed. by Oscar Brand, where it was entitled "Dunderbecke".
