Description
Summary:Post card sent to Mr. and Mrs. James Rorke on June 28, 1940 from ''Babs'' [Yvonne]. The following was written on the back of the post card: ''Here I am in Brownshing staying with Uncle Arthurs brother. We arrived here Wed. night and we are leaving this morning, Friday for Montreal. After that I expet we will turn for R.I. Ottawa is a nice city and the Parliament buildings are beautiful. We could only see the main entrance, as they only allow people on business in them because of the war. Love, Babs.'' The Rorke Family Photograph Collection contains 301 black and white and 28 colour photographs of the Rorke Family of Carbonear, Newfoundland, as well as the Forward and Bemister families from that area who are linked to it by marriage. Although spanning from the 1840s-1970s, most photos are from 1900-45, showing family events, homes and Newfoundland and Labrador locations. There is also an album of photos taken while James Rorke attended the Leys School in Cambridge, England.
