Description
Summary:On the back of this photograph is a note that says "Mrs. Jos Miller, St. John's, Nfld, 103 Cabot St." Joseph Miller (1857-?) married Mary Jane Butt (1861-?) on 6 May 1880 at St. John's. Mary Jane was a half sister of Tryphena (Butt) Forward (they had the same father, Robert Butt) who married Ernest Edward Forward. On the back of this photograph is a note that says "Mrs. Jos Miller, St. John's, Nfld, 103 Cabot St." There is a birth record in the BDM CD for a baby boy born to Joseph Miller in 1888. It is possible that the boy in this photograph is that baby. The Rorke Family Photograph Collection contains 301 black and white and 28 colour photographs of the Rorke Family of Carbonear, Newfoundland, as well as the Forward and Bemister families from that area who are linked to it by marriage. Although spanning from the 1840s-1970s, most photos are from 1900-45, showing family events, homes and Newfoundland and Labrador locations. There is also an album of photos taken while James Rorke attended the Leys School in Cambridge, England.
