Nelson Bennett arrived in 1949, and Elsie French arrived in Midland, Newfoundland and Labrador in September 1936. Mr. Bennett was the principal of St. David's Anglican School for some time, and was very involved in developing recreation for the community. Ms. Bennett was also very involved in the community, as she started Girl Guides in Pasadena.
