Summary:Former root cellar located in Upper Island Cove owned by Harold Coombes (1921-2004). Date of construction is unknown. Stone foundation with mound built around cellar. Entrance was through hatch in shed constructed on top. Prior to being filled in with dirt in the 1970s, the cellar was divided into pounds and used to store vegetables, primarily potatoes, grown on the property.
