Description
Summary:Interview with Terry Rich. The following is not a complete transcript: 6 April 2005 Terry-Harbour Main I talked with Rich Terry this afternoon. He told me he and Dr. Dick Kennedy are first cousins. His mother and Dr. Dick’s father Pad Kennedy are sister and brother. These Kennedy’s are related to Ned Kennedy and his son George who owned Kennedy’s store/ business in Avondale. Both the Kennedy’s (Pad and Ned) had schooners and went fishing in Labrador. Paddy Kennedy had large premises on the water front with two large stores. Paddy had his non wharf. There was also a government store. He listed the following as Army/Canadian WWII. Bill Woodford ( Pop) = Father John Woodford = Hawco Chapels Cove Frankie Ezekiel of Mike a Veteran of WWI where he lost his leg. He (Mike) was married to Grace. Mike Hannon of Andy Frank Hannon of Pat Hannon, school teacher. Forestry- Fred Fleming, Joe Ezekiel, Tom Woodford – Father of Tom Woodford. He used the word CRAVATE saying Paddy Kennedy was some ‘cravate.’ Once he was selling an item for $0.19 and when someone wanted half unit he charged $0.10. An irate customer challenged him for the ½ cents Paddy owed him. Paddy reached into a money tin where he kept a number of pennies cut in half. He gave the irate customer the half coin he had cut into with a coal chisel. He left school When he was in grade nine because he was sick with asthma. He went back to boarding school with St. Bon’s when he was 21 and finished high school.
