In his youth, Wayne worked for his family's trucking business, which delivered livestock, vegetables and other goods throughout the St. John's region. As a student at Memorial University, Wayne became the manager of CHMR radio. This experience led to a twenty year stint of working for CBC Newfoundland and Labrador. From 1991-1994, he was the regional manager of the Arts & Culture Centre; Wayne then started his own production and public relations company. In recent years, Wayne has done PR work for oil companies.
