Description
Summary:wind A wind-jack is the name of a small piece of wood, cut in the shape of a fan. These are usually three to six inches in length and one-half to one and a half inches in width. When held up into the wind they rotate like a propeller. A nail is usually driven through the center to act as an axle. Very common among small boys and sometimes adults place larger ones in conspicuous places such as, on the top of the clothesline pole - on the gate post - on the eave of the stable. I have heard the term "wind-jack" in Bonavista, BB., at Springdale, G. B., and at Red Bay, Labrador and at Sibley's Cove, T.B,m and communities around it.
