Description
Summary:bollix int My aunt who was born, reared, and lived all her life on Fogo Island had a choice expression she always used when extremely irritated. Others around home use it, but because of my closeness to this particular aunt, I seem to always associate the expression with her. My aunt is not given to swearing, or using bawdy language. However, [reverse] supposing my uncle after having a hard day at the fish, came in his house and his dinner was not ready, he would "fly off the handle" as we say aroudn home. This would make my aunt extremely angry and she would retort, with great vehemence, "Ausso, shit, bollix, kiss me ass." Also with reference to the word "bollix," the word "bollicker" is used and it is not an endearing term. Supposing my mother looke through the window and saw someone coming to the house who came a bit too often, she might say, "That old "_bollicker_" is coming again."
