Description
Summary:torch n This is usually the night before Bon-fire night. (it may be some other night if it rains Nov 6) The only place I have heard of this was at Dildo. During this night children go around with torches made of paper or rubber or cardboard. [Reverse] These torches are lit and the children walk about the roads with them. They are said to be looking for Guy Falks, as the people did in England when poor old Guys plot was discovered. When they are ready to go home they usually throw their torches on the road + let them burn out. I thought this to be ridiculous, so I asked a student (Claude Smith) what the meaning of it was, so he explained it to me. Yes Soc: Guy Fawkes DICT CEN.
