Summary:bloody a In 1844 Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Harrison. were making a tour of the bay, accompanied by Mr. Addison, chaplain to Bishop Spencer. They were people of great refinement and culture. Mr Brown tells the story of how he took them over to see old Billy Rabbits; of course the "broke" sugar and the hot water and spirits were immediately produced, and a toast had to be proposed. "Bloody decks to en," said Billy, as he raised his glass. Addison was horrified. "Really, my dear sir, as a minister of religion, I could not drink to such a sanguinary wish as that." Mr. Brown had to explain it was a customary toast of success to the seal fishery, and homicide was not intended. PRINTED ITEM DNE-cit GMS July 76 SIC WK?
