Description
Summary:Trance When a person sleeps sound and is hard to wake up, then they are gone off in a trance. I have heard my grandmother say this a number of times, when my grandfather has lain down on the davenport after a hard days work sometimes. She usually says this after she has tried to wake him up a number of times, and he has not got up. I can remember hearing her say, "What's wrong with Bert again tonight? He must be gone of in a trance." I don't know what the word trance really means, but ac- cording to her it is a deep sleep. I don't know is this is used by the majority of people in the community or not, I have only heard a few people with (sic) the term, although it could be very widespread. The age group here again is not important, it can be used by the old as well as the young. Heard from grandmother, Ettie Langdon, domestic, aged 67. Not used Not used Withdrawn
