| Summary: | Trance When a person sleeps sound and is hard to wake up, then they are gone off in a trance. I have heard my grandmother say this a number of times, when my grandfather has lain down on the davenport after a hard days work sometimes. She usually says this after she has tried to wake him up a number of times, and he has not got up. I can remember hearing her say, "What's wrong with Bert again tonight? He must be gone of in a trance." I don't know what the word trance really means, but ac- cording to her it is a deep sleep. I don't know is this is used by the majority of people in the community or not, I have only heard a few people with (sic) the term, although it could be very widespread.
