Description
Summary:receipt p.10: When breakfast was finished, Dad would take the "scram-box" (a small box of food to carry in the dory) and go down to the stage. pp. 24-25: After returning home from the stage, my father would usually have something to do. When the cod fishery was going strong, I have seen my father making "gingens" on the back of the chair. Gingens were short lines with a small loop at one end where the fish hook was connected. Sometimes he would bring an old line of gear in the kitchen and repair it, probably by putting gingens on it. pp.25-26: All four dories sold their fish fresh and received weekly payments from the Gaultois Fisheries. Each day they would receive "_saits_," (a record of the pounds of fish brought) and would receive payment in relation to the saits.
