| Summary: | rub n _Rub_ - a passage through dense woods which has not been used long enough to be called a path or walkway . It's called a " RUB" because the woods on each side of you would rub against your [reverse] clothes and body as you pushed your way through . In our community ( Long Harbour, P. Bay ) the "RUB" was always named for the person who was believed to have used it first for example , Michaels' Rub ( pronounced MICKLE ) is an area where a man named Michael , long long ago, hauled wood from the interior to the seashore where boats were used to transport it home.
