Description
Summary:piddly n This game was played between two people and all that was necessary to play were two sticks, one between one and two feet long, and the other longer, probably about three feet in length and two rocks or other objects about one foot high. The two rocks were placed so that the shorter stick could span the distance between them. .[the person who was "in"] proceeded to flick the shorter stick, which was resting on the rocks, as far as he could with the longer stick. After doing this he placed the longer stick on the rock in the former place of the short stick. These sticks, by the way, were both termed "piddley sticks".the person who was now "out" picked up the shorter stick, and standing in the place where it had landed after being flicked, he threw the shorter stick in an attempt to knock the longer stick from its position. If he succeeded he was immediately "in" and the other fellow was"out". G. M. Story JUL 1973 JH JUL 1973 Used I Used I Not used Word form 'Pidley Sticks' appears in DNE I, but not 'piddley stick'
