They generally obained, by barter with the fishermen, the very fish that the merchant must needs look to for the payment of dealers' accounts of the grub, salt and supplies advanced them on credit.As late as 1939 I was aboard the only one I ever saw, perhaps the last one to operate in Plancentia Bay.
