| Summary: | pickle v Pickled fish. June 1, 1824. This well-known method of producing the most palatable form of salt codfish was per- haps then a new departure, to get a better price, from the traditional saltbulk style. About 1835, I have met mention of inspectors of pick- led fish appointed by the Newfoundland government, an example of the ancient, and often comical, struggle to get Newfoundlanders to make good-quality salt fish.
