Description
Summary:sailing close to the wind THe majority of the old men in my home community were fishermen & even in their everyday speech they used sailing terms which were passed on from father to son. My father learned some of these from his father & he still uses them. 'saling close to the wind'- WHenver any of my brothers were escpecially annoying my dad would always say, "My lad, you're sailing close to the wind now" - meaning that they were in danger of being punished. (It is dangerous to sail too close to the wind for the boat will capsized [sic] - if the sails get too filled with wind the boat capsizes) JH FEB 1972 Not used Not used Withdrawn Withdrawn but no stamp
