What they considered to be sand rocks was a type of rock which was many different colors. This rock was usually round in shape, which was due to its washing back and forth on the beach. The women would use a large rock to break up the sand rock, so that the remains could be used to put on the floor when cleaning. Of course this was before the day of floor covering. There would be only the bare board to clean, the knots would very often stick out. DNE-cit.
