Description
Summary:skinny wopper n "Skinny-waps" (Pronounced wops). These were a type of moccasin that was worn with snowshoes. They were made of sealskin (fur removed). My mother who used them in her youth, says that they were"Eskimo moccasins' but that they knew them by the name of "Skinny-waps". . . . The moccasins were close fitting and reached up to the knee. They were secured at the tops by a draw-string and this was the only lacing they had. . . . they were unlined thus necessitating the wearing of 2 or three pairs of socks. She says that they had no soles as such, just continuations of the rest of the surface. . . .
