Description
Summary:sprained My grandmother told me, that when grandfather went fishing in the spring first, he would always have a bad back. It would become sprained and very painful. This also applied to the arms-wrists [sic] as well. . . . she said there was one way that his sprain could be helped, and that was by putting red flannel on the arms. This flannel is used very widely in my community. When ever [sic] anyone has a sprain arm or back, the first thing that they are bound to do is to apply red flannel to it.
