Summary:maidenhair n Years ago teenage girls used to make a perfume by boiling maiden-hair berry leaves. A maiden-hair berry is a small white berry about the size and shape of a bean which grows on the ground much like a marsh-berry. They used to gather the leaves of this plant and boil them in water for a short time. This boiled water which had the smell of the leaves in it, was cooled and used as perfume by girls aged eleven to fourteen years. Sometimes this perfume was used by older women also.
