Description
Summary:slub n Slub in Newfoundland Fishery Severe in 1977 and 1978 Although the word "slub" may be used by fisheren when referring to any of a variety of net-fouling matter, the kind of slub that raises havoc in May and June with the New- foundland salmon fishery and the ground fish gill netters is a mucous or gelatinous material. Its sticky natures causes it to adhere to the nets, thus making the twine visible to fish. The mucus also traps microscopic plants and animals., in the same way that flypaper collects insects. see p.2 NOV 7 1980 Used I and Sup Used I and Sup 1 Not used Gurry
