The first eight ships built in Scotland just before the turn of the century were given names.each beginning with a different letter of the alphabet. They were: _Argyle, Bruce, Clyde, Dundee, Ethie, Fife_, _Glencoe_ and _Home_. New vessels were added in subsequent years -- _Invermore, Kyle, Lintrose and Meigle_. were all coastal vessels carrying passengers and freight to every nook and corner of Newfoundland and Labrador.
