Description
Summary:Jesus Murphy [PT] This is a common swearing term in Newfoundland. I believe it is mainly a Roman Catholic swear term. I have heard it used in St. John's since I was about 15, but I think I mainly heard it at Holy Heart of Mary Regional High School (Catholic) from 1962-63. It was used by several of my classmates, particularly Shirley Walsh from St. John's. Recently, I have heard it used by two other people - Mrs. Carol Russell (age 23) who is Catholic and from Saint John, New Brunswisk, and by Andrew Mackey, who I think is from Fredericton, N.B., but I don't know what his flavour (religion) is.
