Description
Summary:jam v Clever and efficient in overcoming difficulties - smart, proficient - when such a man is referred to by an admirer who will say, "He can't be jammed." The expression got its loud usage from the sealers at the seal fishery in their admiration of the first steel-built steamers, owing to the way they sped through the ice-floes as compared with the old wooden whalers. I have even heard a sealer referring to his girl in these terms: "A fine girl. Why, she can't be jammed."
