Summary:hockshaw _The Hockshaw ?? Man._ _The Devil._ _The Boo-man._ ((JW. What was _the Hockshaw Man_ supposed to be like? ??)) Y. Well .he resembled _the Devil_ [PT], I suppose. I know I saw a picture in a magazine one time of whatever the Church,I guess, agrees is the .looks like the Devil [PT],whoever he is! Anyway I was told this fellow was _the Hockshaw_ _Man_ [PT],only he's a little bit different,. He live in _the woods_ in _a cave_ or something and near his _cave_ he had a big.(THERE)was a big clifft, and he only came out at night, and if he caught you around _the woods_ late in the everning,he'd take you and then throw you over this _clifft_. So he was quite frighten- ing, this fellow! He had horns out of his head and a big tail and a spear. *[_PT_] .This _Hockshaw Man_ *[PT] was just to keep you in,say, in the evening(s) [AND] so on like that, but not everybody had _the Hockshaw Man_ _[PT]_-or[PT [PT].There was only.only a.you know, depending on how easily you were fright- ened. If you were not frightened very easily well it was necessary to have a more horrible fellow! . .These threats were serious and when children were very frightened they usually did what tehy were told then when _the Boo-man_ was threatened on 'em.
