Description
Summary:hauling vbln Frolic - A Frolic is an occassion for work and celebration. Usually about 6 to 10 men go into the woods for a day cutting wood. This would be called a "Cutting Frolic". Later on the wood is hauled out with horses and is given to one particular man in the group. This would be called the "Hauling Frolic". Each of these Folics is followed up at night by a "get together" at the house of the man who recieved the wood. He would have a barrel of home brew p repared in advance for this occasion. The night's activities would consist of card-playing, story-telling, dancing, playing the accordion, and general merry-making. This would be repeated for each member of the group until all have their supply of wood.[If] some man in the community is sick and unable to go into the woods, the same procedure would go ahead without him, except that he would have to provide the home brew for the party at night.
