| Summary: | Atlantic Seals The young Atlantic seals have to be born on ice and, moreover, on a special kind of ice, calling "whelping ice." They are helpless as kittens; and for about a month have to be nursed and cared for like any other young mammal. .More feckless infants than white-coats and young hoods never drew the breath of life.
