Description
Summary:haul n At an average of ten barrels per haul, three hauls per day, Thirty barrels per day (a barrel is approximately one quintal).Cod trap fishermen carry bags of about a four inch mesh size. There is no specific size for a bag, except perhaps there is a large size and a small size. In case of more than a skiff load, including the load of the punt as well, the fish is put in a bag and the bag is tied fast to a mooring of the trap until next time around, or perhaps given to some handline fisherman who may happen by. A forty or fifty quintal haul is no guarantee of that much next time. Next time could perhaps be a water haul, that is no fish at all. DNE-cit JH 2/77 Used I and Sup Used I and Sup 1 Used I
