| Summary: | glory This name was and still is common in some homes in my community. It was another name put on a closet. Years ago people often said "Put your coat in the "Glory Hole." This name was really the sleeping quarters in a small fishing boat. It was referred to as the "Glory Hole" because it was usually in such a mess that one could hardly get into it. The "Glory Hole" of those small fishing boats was only tiny, with about four or five beds. Since a closet is tiny as well, it is often referred to us the "Glory Hole."
